Educating staff with a few simple changes to their daily IT usage can have substantial long-term cost savings for your business.
Here are our top ten helpful hints for a more energy efficient office:
1. Switch from desktop to laptops as they use less energy
2. Turn electronics off at the plug when not in use (or unplug altogether)
3. Don’t leave computer/laptops on standby, turn them off at end of the day.
4. Disconnect external devices if not using (headphones, cameras, printers etc.)
5. Adjust your computers energy settings – optimising the brightness of monitors can save power
6. Use a charger only when charging your laptop (overcharging degrades batteries and consumes unnecessary power)
7. Use “sleep/hibernate” mode if taking a short break from computer screen.
8. Choose high energy-efficient PC’s/laptops and keep updated with the latest software
9. Set printers to automatically power down.
10. Go paperless - only print if necessary.
TOP TIP: Using Cloud sharing services can substantially cut down print usage!
