Walking, Paddling, and Fundraising. Technical Drive’s 40km Challenge for SMA UK is Complete! £1,094 Raised!
On Saturday 7th June, five members of our Technical Drive team: Adam, Sam, Ben, Amy and Elizabeth finished a 40km fundraising challenge in honour of SMA UK’s 40th anniversary campaign: 40 for 40!
The team had already tackled their 20km walk, now, it was time to swap walking boots for paddles and take on the second half of the challenge: a 20km canoe trip down the River Severn, from Bridgnorth to Bewdley. Despite ominous weather forecasts, the day dawned clear and calm, with perfect conditions for a scenic paddle.
Along the way, the team passed riverside wildlife, lively hen-do flotillas, and made excellent time to the all-important halfway pub stop, where Sam took a celebratory dip!
Finally, they nearly became an obstacle (or a competitive threat) to the Bewdley boat race that afternoon. All in all, an excellent effort from our fundraising five! Special thanks to all the friends, family and colleagues that supported them with donations!
SMA UK (Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK) is the leading UK charity supporting individuals and families affected by spinal muscular atrophy, a rare, life-limiting neuromuscular condition. The charity provides vital emotional and practical support, advocates for access to treatments, and invests in research to improve the lives of those living with SMA. Their 40 for 40 campaign aims to raise £40,000 to mark 40 years of this vital work and we’re proud to have played our part in reaching that goal.
